Computus Demum

About CD

It is possible to see the most high-end content of World of Warcraft while raiding with people you enjoy the company of.

Computus Demum is a progression-oriented World of Warcraft Horde guild on the Eonar (US) server. The guild was created on March 10th, 2006 and has been actively raiding since that time.

Values
The best way we can describe ourselves is as a “hardcore guild with a less hardcore schedule.” We raid 3 nights a week for 3-4 hours. We expect people to put in the maximum effort for raids — both in preparation and focus. We have a good time, but we also don’t tolerate incompetence or laziness. Most of us have fairly busy real-life schedules, and we want to maximize progression and see as much of the game as possible in the limited time we have to play it.

CD values maturity, competency, and progression, in that order. We pride ourselves on professionalism and a reputation for little to no drama. If you visit the public Eonar forums, you won’t see much in the way of typical internet idiocy, drama, and bullshit that other guilds spew. Our policy is to speak softly and carry a big stick.

Leadership
CD’s leadership consists of a team of officers that have been raiding together for well over two years.  Eander has recently taken over as GM, after having been an officer since 2009.  Andoras, Minoan, Hinar, and Donpablo round out the current active officers.  We also have a number of former officers, who were no longer able to raid due to real life pressures, that still occasionally visit online or in the forums.

What this means for the guild is stability. When the officers discuss an issue, there’s no egos, politics, or agendas — just honesty, communication, and a desire to be fair to everyone involved with the guild.

In addition, we also have a Raid Assitant rank which allows a direct avenue of communication between some of our best players and the officers. Raid Assistant promotions are given to players we feel exhibit some leadership qualities, as well as display the traits we desire in an ideal guild member. These players help us run the raids and make decisions.

Loot
Loot is a tool for progression. CD uses DKP because a) it’s easy for us to maintain from an overhead perspective and b) it is 100% fair.

In general, we have zero tolerance for loot drama of any kind, with a special kick in the nuts reserved for DKP collusion (saying “you get this one for 10, I’ll get the next one for 10″). Any of this we run into is dealt with quickly and strongly.

Miscellaneous
Answers to some commonly asked questions:

Our Name – “Computus Demum” is Latin and loosely translates to “Final Reckoning.” If you pop it into a language translation web site, you may also get “Final Countdown,” which has led to the song making an appearance on a few boss kill videos and in our Vent server.

PvP – The guild has a contingent of 5-10 consistent, solid PvPers. If you’re serious about PvP and want to know if anyone’s going to have room for you on an arena team, drop us a line and ask.

TBC Progression – In TBC we cleared SSC, Tempest Keep, Black Temple, and Mount Hyjal. We cleared the first three bosses of Sunwell pre-3.0 including Brutallus and Felmyst as Horde-first kills. We also had the Horde-first Kil’Jaeden kill.

Pre-TBC Progression – Pre-TBC we had cleared Molten Core, Blackwing Lair, and were about halfway through AQ40. It’s worth noting that we’re considerably more serious about progression (and the leadership is better at pushing in that direction) now than we were then.

Member Count – we usually maintain a roster of 30-35 raiding members. In general, we run the minimum number of people to ensure that we can raid every scheduled night. We also have a Non-raider rank which exists purely for social reasons –friends or family of guild members, former raiders who no longer raid, etc.

Progression – the best way to check our progression is by simply looking at the news page.
