Yeah, sorry 'bout that.
Sep 25, 2009
(This post was originally in the officer forums, which has been more active than any other forum since the guild was founded, including after the guild's "death"):
All-in-all, there's two big points for me from the way the guild ended, probably a positive and a negative:
1. (Negative) I burned it all out by going 5 days a week. At the time, I felt that we were as weak as we had been since becoming #1, so that was how we could compete.
Interestingly, I honestly did, and always have felt since becoming GM, that we were the best guild on the server. Pound for pound, I felt we have the best leadership, the highest skill level per player, and the highest standards. Given all those items, I felt we could be a success by simply applying a little more effort in times of "dire" falling behind.
2. (Positive) I realize now that we could've survived -- easily -- on 3 nights a week of raiding. What made CD strong was not so much the progression and gameplay, but rather the high standards. When I became GM, I simply enforced the high standards of tolerance we all had with assholes on the internet, and for the most part (save characters like Mudbuster and perhaps Eska), the results equated to progression.
If you look at every single post on this website after we've "broken up", what you'll see is not, "I miss progression," but rather, "I miss you guys." That is, the people who were in this guild for the long haul could care less about progression but were more interested in spending time with cool people night after night.
In the end, I pointed us away from that, and I'm sorry.
But ultimately, looking at my life now, I just couldn't keep this up. You guys were amazing, and I'm grateful to have "met" every single one of you. I still hope to grab a beer with Minoan and Cal in Cleveland (FC, graduate college so you can meet our respectable, career-driven asses). I honestly believe that day will come.
I also honestly believe the day will come, sometime in the next 20-40 years, where we will reform -- as Computus Demum -- in some other virtual world. I look forward to enjoying that adventure with you all.
Until then, as usually I'm drunk from Stewart's microbrewery beer, so a toast to you all.
/cheers

CD's days as a 25-man raiding guild, at least for now, are over.
Thanks are in order to everyone who has had a hand in making CD what it was, is, and will continue to be.
If you're a quality person who is interested in a casual guild, feel free to put up an app. Or just whisper someone in game. Whatever :P

Crazy 10 Man Action. ALGALON BEWARE!!!
May 11, 2009
We had a 10 man group blow up quite a few hard moads this weekend. These were all Horde firsts, and Vezax was server first! Woo!
Edit: Just found out our Hard mode Vezax kill was the 23rd in the US, and only 71st in the World. Pretty cool!

These were a lot more fun than their easy mode counterparts. Certainly looking forward to working on these in 25 man.
Freya and Mimiron are in for some trouble next week. Hot Algalon pics inc.

Tentacles. Totally Sexy.
May 07, 2009
After a couple hours of listening to "This one's you. This one's me. ***** I hate this boss" on (Edit: OMG, I'd hate to have my days wrong!) Monday, we splattered General Vezax.

This is personally my least favorite of the fights in Ulduar so far. Another encounter where one type of tank has a very significant advantage over the others (YAY DKs!). Maybe it's more fun for ranged, but as melee, doing nothing but standing there facerolling for 7-8 minutes isn't very enthralling.
Maybe hard mode will be more entertaining!
Onward, to Yogg!

Updates

Mimiron would have died Wednesday, but we had some fun times with his fire damage from phase 2 continuing into phase 3. Downed him Thursday at like 8:53:27:46. Might be off on the time by a millisecond or two.

We also grabbed the server first hard mode kill when a bunch of losers and drunks downed Thorim on 10-man while his wife watched.

Maybe one day someone will be motivated enough for screenshots.
