l2drake

Dec 05, 2008

Malygos is actually a pretty fun fight. Probably the most straight-up challenging one yet.

I guess now we'll kill raid time working on a 2-3 drake Sartharion kill. OMG LOOTZ.

All in all, we're not too upset about the easy content because it's a great time of the year to have some raid nights off. Hopefully 3.1 hits sometime shortly after Christmas so we can go balls to the wall again.

Until then, peace out.

Okay... NOW Naxx is Clear

Dec 04, 2008

As predicted, Naxx was clear tonight by 9pm, with a two-shot of Thaddius, and one-shots of Sapphiron and KT. Here's the screenshot of our new throne for your viewing pleasure. (Did you get your tickets?)

So we decided to start working on the extra drake kills on Sartharion. A pretty decent step up in challenge level, even with just one drake. It's a fun challenge to do fights where we actually have some strategy discussion, rather than just doing a pre-written strat.

At any rate, we managed to do a 1-drake kill, and then headed to Malygos, where we tossed a few wipes at him to get a feel for the first phase, then called it a bit early. Tomorrow night, we'll gun for the big guy.

Naxx Clear... Almost

Dec 02, 2008

So after wiping on Thaddius a bit last night, we came back in with our DPS on full steam ahead. I knew it was gonna be a good night when we dropped Noth without having to wait for more adds to spawn.

At any rate, by about 11:30 we were pulling Sapphiron. By midnight:

So it's midnight, about time for the raid to end, and we figure what the hell, we'll pull KT....

Lucky for that bastard, most of us have real-life jobs we need to get to, so he gets to live for one more maintenance cycle.

Three Quarters then some Turkey

Nov 26, 2008

In the spirit of a picture is worth a thousand words:

At this point, clearly it's a trivial accomplishment for a real raiding guild to blow through 25-man Naxx. But the more I think about it, the more I figure it's a good instance anyways.

The point of Naxx-25 is for more people to get into raiding by having a positive experience in the entry level raid dungeon. Got 25 people? Go do some fights with some basic mechanics and get some easy loot. Fair enough. Certainly this is a better extreme than a fight like HKM, which is decided in the first 2 seconds by whether or not you get the pull right and/or your tank gets one-shotted. Most importantly, we're having fun for the time being, which is why I used to play video games in the first place ;-)

At any rate, I'm out for some turkey. And beer. Lots of beer. I'll post when we finish clearing Naxx some time next week.

Back In the (Easymode) Saddle

Nov 24, 2008

Formed up our first WotLK 25-man raid tonight. Stopped off to beat down Sartharion first, because dragon kill shots are really cool:

Next we cleared the spider wing of Naxx. Of course, there's some obvious concerns here with challenge level, considering we one-shotted two of the bosses, and two-shot the other.

The instructor was a bit tougher, but that was more because we didn't have any damned priests than that the fight was hard to execute on. In fact, you'll notice the following:

1. I didn't even get a screenshot of Maexxna
2. In the other screenshots, people are already running away

Basically, up until we got to instructor it was about as challenging as rolling through Mother trash. But anyways, here's the instructor kill shot:

And here's to cleaning out a few more wings tomorrow night. If turkey day wasn't in the way, I'm sure we'd probably have this place cleaned out by the end of next week. But oh well, I'll see you guys on the other side of some stuffing and gravy.
